Last Supper in Pompeii opens this month at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology. Featuring over 400 artefacts related to food and wine including furniture, art, and objects that tell the story of retail and consumption in the ancient city. There are lots of exciting events including curator tours, talks and even a festival of archaeology. One not to miss if you're in England between July and January 2020.

The Metro project running through the Sydney CBD has unearthed several burials as part of the ongoing construction works. Teams of archaeologists have been working on different sites in an effort to understand the graves, people and early history of Sydney. Only one on these new excavations have been able to tell exactly who the individual is thanks to the preserved name plate on the remnants of the coffin, Joseph Thompson.
